about

The 16th release for Psychic Pollution and Eat Glass Records.

The idea for Digital Apathy is loosely based on an idea Schuurman had while composing on a newly purchased Dave Smith Tempest synthesizer.
The synthesizer is built as a drum machine with sequencers and classic Dave Smith sounds. The interface is digital but the
heart of it is analog. There is a school of synth purists out there who feel the two should never be combined however these days the
implementation is quite common. This lead Schuurman to ponder the question, does it even matter, who cares as long as you can make sounds you like.
Then came bigger questions, existential ones about life and how Digital Apathy could be applied to everything. Do I even care that this cell phone is killing me?
Have we become complacent to the digital age? Are we slaves to our devices? Does anyone care? about... anything really?

These thoughts and emotions were put into a dark dance album that utilizes for the first time in awhile Schuurmans vocal abilities.
Local recording engineer Myke Hall mixed and mastered the album. It was one of the first times Schuurman used a professional to help him finish an album and the results
speak for themselves.

Psych heavy and Kraut in scope with sporadic kosmiche sampling and dancefloor grooves that fits somewhere in the Berlin School of electronic music. Noisy at times, but heavy in ambiance and minimalism. ... more
